Walking Football

Walking football started in September 2014 after a discussion with Gary Nattress about the Barclays Advert, he hadn’t played football for over 40 years.  ‘If its only walking would you do it’, I asked?  When he said he would I went home and designed a poster to put in the local pubs, purely to see who would be interested in a bit of exercise, using the local facilities, having a bit of fun and socialising. We haven’t looked back since.

We meet in the Multicourt on Tuesday evening at 7 pm and play for an hour. Then we go to the George and Dragon afterwards where we do a bus stop ticket every week, the winner gets £20.  Martyn and Pauline provide a few platters of food as well.

We have a tombola birthday, a pumpkin carving competition, fancy dress Christmas with meal and an early summer presentation evening with BBQ.

There is no fee to play and definitely no commitment to play every week although the weather rarely stops us playing and you’ll probably become hooked.  Ages are 50+ and any gender is welcome.

If you wish to contact the Walking Footballers then please use our contact page and the Parish Clerk will put you in touch.
